At Bite Me! Music & Fashion, it's a win-win when you find a band that inspires a designer to create an affordable and loved collection. Target is known for acquiring well noted designers and giving them the challenge to create a high fashion and inexpensive line that will appeal to fashion driven consumers. Alexander McQueen, "Lee McQueen," was chosen back in 2009 (before his untimely and tragic suicide in 2010) and was given the task of creating a collection that would be most creative while being based off of some kind of inspiration. His inspiration - Liela Moss from The Duke Spirit.
The Duke Spirit paid a visit to classy San Diego after having
wrapped up their tour with Jane’s Addiction on Friday June 1st. Earlier, we
posted an album review for Bruiser, which was highly anticipated by fans and
left myself wanting more. Experiencing a live show was nowhere near enough to
satisfy my wants. The high energy that front woman Leila Moss performs with
makes it impossible for a room of new listeners to stand still and take in each
song. Besides the massive amounts of distortion and interference acting as a
needle piercing your ear drums, rather than an embellishment to the music, it
was clearly evident that The Duke Spirit was something to put your beer up and
rock to.
The Duke Spirit has released their third full length album titled Bruiser. By having its one single available for your viewing pleasure on YouTube, “Surrender,” you'll receive a sweet taste of what to expect on this 12 track album. Being an avid fan of this quintet who produce awesome indie rock I may be a tad bit biased, but it's only easier for me to convince you of something you'll never regret. Front power woman, Leila Moss, emanates the "cool" factor to the hundredth power, displays a badass aura while on stage, and her vocals aren't too far from shabby. With a voice like Allison Mossart from The Kills, undertones of Bjork, and a hard hit of something intriguing and unique you can’t tear your eyes/ears away from Moss.
