LAFW SS14: One Haute Night

The theme for LA Fashion Weekend’s SS14 finale was One Haute Night, and everyone was decked out in their finest. The great thing about fashion shows is that they give you a reason to dress as fancy or as adventurous as you want.

Mikey Koffman went the adventurous route and rocked a killer new hair style.

One of the perks of hanging out in the lounge area at L.A. Fashion Weekend is the opportunity to mingle with celebrities and designers. I had a red carpet moment with Paulo Benedeti on Friday, got to hang out with my friend (actress)Kate Linder on Saturday, and on Sunday I had the pleasure of meeting Lorie Moore (Season 3 The X Factor) and Franklin A Davis IV (BET’s Sunday Best). They were both quite lovely. You can check out Lorie’s audition for The X Factor here.

I also had a chance to chat with designer Kimi Verma before the show. She and her friend were both wearing a Shail K signature piece.

I spotted a number of guests in retro style dresses. I’m pretty sure they were from Unique-Vintage. Unique-Vintage offers vintage-inspired clothing for the modern girl. I loved the collection and wanted just about everything that came down the runway.

Throughout L.A. Fashion Weekend the Nobu Hotel models showcased some exquisite looks inspired by Japanese culture. It turns out these beautiful creations were works by Le MaLi. Designed by twin sisters—Taraslith and Marlene Herrera—the LeMaLi brand is geared toward the sexy and confident woman and features elegant, high-end apparel for all body types. The sisters draw inspiration from old Hollywood and place an emphasis on shape, structure, and embellished details.

Former Miss Mumbai turned designer, Kimi Verma knows a thing about formal wear. Her Shail K collection presented a number of lavish designs that mixed bold and jeweled tones with rich fabrics and intricate beading. The end results were glamorous, feminine pieces that would make any woman feel like a beauty queen.

When the show was over everyone headed to Drai’s, at The W Hollywood, for the after party (hosted by Bibby Financial) to celebrate Mikey’s birthday and LA Fashion Weekend’s 10th Season. May there be many more.
