Skineez: Revolutionary Shapewear

I was first introduced to Skineez at L.A. Fashion Weekend’s F/W 2012 Emerging Designer showcase. In addition to seeing their fashion show I also had the opportunity to chat with Skineez Founder/CEO, Michelle Moran, and President, Patricia Tostado. Both were happy to fill me in on all the built-in skin benefits of Skineez shapewear, and they were kind enough to give me a pair of their reversible leggings to try.

Skineez Skincarewear is best known for its revolutionary moisturizing shapewear that provides support and contouring while creating firmer, younger looking skin via a patented technology called Skintex. It’s a special microcapsule that permeates the product during manufacturing and it is comprised of micro-crystals infused with anti-aging and moisturizing agents that work together to reduce the appearance of cellulite while smoothing the skin; thereby, giving the wearer an instantly slimming look while providing an effective spa treatment. After 10 washes you need to treat the garment with additional Skintex. A bottle is provided with the garment at the time of purchase, so all you have to do is wash, spray, and allow it to air dry.

In addition to shapewear the company also makes leggings and an activewear line is in the works.

The leggings come in solids or lace and are also available as footless. I was given a solid pair to test out.

I will start by saying that I despise wearing tights because they always irritate my skin, and I end up scratching my legs constantly. I always apply lotion before putting them on but purposely did not when wearing the Skineez. The garment itself is soft to the touch, and thanks to the Skintex my skin did not itch. I wore the leggings on various occasions and since they are reversible I could wear grey one day and black on another. The footless version has a lace border around the ankles. I received numerous comments on how cute they were.  They were also super soft and comfortable and are very sturdy so you don’t have to worry about accidently ripping or poking a hole in them.

After a two- week trial run I have to admit that I love Skineez’ leggings and will be incorporating them into my wardrobe. I’ve read reviews on their shapewear products and all have stated that they are far more comfortable than Spanx. A six-week study was conducted on 20 women who wore Skineez Skincarewear for 8 hours a day. The average woman lost 1 inch in her waist and 0.4 inches in each thigh. So, if you are considering investing in shapewear give Skineez a try.

Eventually, respect for Jan at the executive level declined and she was forced out of her powerful position.
