Sanuk Footwear hosted the Ladies Night Out event at Bellacures, in Beverly Hills, in order to give us a preview of their Spring 2012 line. If you haven’t been to Bellacures, it’s a full service nail salon with a cozy atmosphere. They have a great selection of colors, and the manicurists are very efficient.
A few fashionable guys were also in attendance, and they enjoyed complimentary pedis. Guests were treated to champagne, cupcakes, and a candy bar. They also received a gratis pair of Sanuk’s yoga-mat sandals to wear after their pedi and were given a pair of the “sidewalk surfers” slip-ons for later.
The Spring launch also marks the company’s alliance with Operation Smile. Sanuk has committed to fixing 100 children’s smiles and they will raise awareness for the cause via special hangtags that will be attached to every shoe and sandal they make.
I have to say that the yoga-mat sandals are, by far, the most comfortable “flip-flops” I have every worn. Made from actual yoga mats they have an über-soft footbed and also come in an array of fashionable styles.
Crafted from recyclable materials the sidewalk surfers feature a patented sandal construction that allows your feet to bend and flex in natural comfort via a rubber outsole. The pair I received supported eco-focused causes through the Rasta Project.
Taking its moniker from the Thai word for fun the company also lives by this mantra, and its motto is “Smile…Pass It On!” Founded in 1997 by Jeff Kelley (an avid surfer), Sanuk is known for its innovative footwear that is funky and functional. Jeff got his start by making sandals out of inner tubes and indoor-outdoor carpet. From that spawned the goal to provide creatively inspired yet thoughtfully designed products for the global outdoor community.
