LAFC SS14 Collections At The Grove

The Los Angeles Fashion Council held it SS14 Runway Shows at the park located in The Grove. Major props go out to Kelsi Smith and her crew for putting together a very well organized event. The park was a great location, the shows were on schedule, the staff was friendly, parking was validated, shoppers at The Grove were able to view the presentations, and instead of paper wrist bands we were given neon friendship bracelets. Fun!

Fashion's Night Out 2011 - Doing it Up on the West Coast

Fashion’s Night Out is just a few short weeks away (September 8th to be exact) and the events are starting to line up. While most retailers host special events and parties on this night the actual intent of FNO is to remind consumers of the importance that fashion, retail, and shopping bring to their local economy. However, there is nothing wrong with having fun while indulging in a little retail therapy.  I don’t know about you, but I enjoy shopping a lot more with some cool tunes in the background and a glass of champagne in hand.

Fashion's Night Out Los Angeles, September 10, 2010

Congratulations to the City of Angels for stepping it up for the second annual Fashion’s Night Out. There was so much to do it was hard to narrow it down. Thankfully, J’s game for pretty much anything so it was a marathon shopping night.

Our evening started out at the GenLux Magazine party on Rodeo Drive. The event also featured a silent auction to benefit Daisy Love Merrick (www.prayfordaisy.com). Food was provided by Tabu Grill. They served a delicious ginger soup and an incredibly buttery yellowtail that melted in your mouth. I definitely recommend dining at this place.

In most of the shops the champagne was flowing and deserts and other tasty treats were being offered. Live music, balloons, and giveaways were also in abundance. We passed the Grilled Cheese Truck on our way to Roberto Cavalli. It was only about ten after 6 and already a line had formed. I guess everyone wanted to try the “fashion” sandwich, which was a special for the evening and was comprised of spare ribs, cheese, and caramelized onions. Upon arrival at Cavalli we were greeted with a Cavalli cocktail (made from Grey Goose and not Cavalli vodka – bummer.) We sipped our drink while admiring the beauty of Signor Cavalli’s latest collection.

Fashion's Night Out Los Angeles

Last year Fashion’s Night Out Los Angeles paled in comparison to FNONY. Neiman Marcus in Beverly Hills put on a pretty sweet bash and Fred Segal did too, but that was about it. This year L.A. is on the ball with over 200 retailers participating in the night’s festivities.

On Friday, September 10th the annual shopping extravaganza will kick off at 4 p.m. with Red Carpet arrivals at The Beverly Center, followed by a speech from Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa at 5 p.m. A number of stores will feature gifts with purchase in addition to other special events. Macy’s is sponsoring a Denim Rock’s fashion show, and The Beverly Center will feature various fashion shows throughout the evening with special host WILL.I.AM of The Black Eyed Peas. www.beverlycenter.com/fashionsnightout

The Grove will also host an evening filled with glamorous gifts, amazing prizes, and fashionable savings, which will be available to members of its loyalty awards program. (If you are not yet a member you can sign up at concierge services.) The night will center on The Park at The Grove, featuring up to ten wonderful Los Angeles based stylists, including Reah Norman, Kallah Maguire, Bree Cooley, Laurie Brucker,  Margaret Sche, and Kelsi Smith who will all be on hand to lend their styling expertise. Bloggers' Cafè hosted by Two Point Oh! LA will be on hand to cover all festivities, which will include a meet-n-greet with Blake Mycoskie, founder and chief shoe giver of Tom’s shoes, at Nordstrom from 6 – 9 p.m.  Fergie will also make a special appearance at Nordstrom from 9 – 10 p.m. Shoppers will also receive a free Fashion’s Night Out T-Shirt when they visit 5 participating stores. (L.A.’s official FNO Tee was designed by Marc Blaskovits, a student in FIDM’s graphic design program. Proceeds from the sale of the shirt will go to the California Fashion Foundation’s scholarship program to fund fashion education in Los Angeles.) http://www.thegrovela.com/los_angeles/promos/promo_page.php?id_promo=48&section=events
