Em and Co Pop-Up Shop

Once a month Em and Co features a revolving selection of collections by L.A. based designers. This month’s Pop-Up/Fashion Installation featured new looks from Petro Zillia, LisaMichelle, Tiffany Kunz, and Black Tree Couture.

EM and Co. - August Pop-Up

Every month EM and Co. hosts a pop-up for a revolving selection of collections by L.A. based designers and artists. This month the boutique will feature Sammie LA: Hand-Crafted Caftan Collection and Art Needs Freedom: Unique Accessories. EM & Co - Up Next: L.A. Designers Installation and Runway Show

EM & Co kicked off Fashion Week, Spring 2001 with its emerging designer’s series that featured Jordan Klein, Mariska, and a collaboration by Em, Queeine4ever, and Krys-n-Jack.

The evening started out with a menswear collection by Jordan Klein. Jordan, a former Vogue model and graphic designer, is part owner of the graphic T-Shirt line Casual-T’s and RockIcon. Tonight was the debut of his menswear collection. The dramatic edgy pieces were inspired by the action movie “Hero”. According to Jordan each collection’s underlying story inspires the wearer to become a Hero. The models were a perfect fit for his casual line. Each one looked comfortable in the clothes and I could see them wearing the Tee’s, hoodies, and studded scarfs on an everyday basis.

EM & Co presents UP NEXT: L.A. DESIGNERS BRAVE NEW WORLD

For the past 7 seasons EM & Co has presented The "Brave New World" Fashion Installation during L.A. Fashion Week. EM & Co owner Eveline Morel is passionate about helping emerging local artists and frequently hosts unique fashion events at her boutique that feature some of L.A.'s best kept secrets.

Em & Co kicked off awards season with a delightful event featuring an array of beautiful dresses by Angela Dean. The stylists to the stars were out in full force to check out Dean's designs in order to present their client's with that stunning piece in which to grace the red carpet with. If you're not familiar with Dean, she was the creative influence behind Madonna's notorious bullet bra made famous during her Blonde Ambition tour in 1990. A native of Long Beach, California, Dean has been creating her couture gowns under the Deanzign moniker for over two decades. Her one-of-a-kind creations have adorned the likes of Halle Berry, Queen Latifah, Paris Hilton, and Katy Perry to name a few. (http://www.deadzign.com/)

Kimberly Cole and Em & Co present UP NEXT: Emerging L.A. Designers Fashion Show

When BiteMe! Received the invite to attend the Emerging L.A. Designers Fashion Show at Em and Co we were happy to accept. We had a great experience with them the week before, so we knew we couldn't go wrong. Plus, we love browsing through all the great selections that the store has to offer. If you're planning on stopping by be sure to swing by El Carmen for a drink, which happens to be a few blocks down and is a new favorite on our list.

EM &Co presents KM2Shoes

If you happen to be in the Mid-Wilshire area you need to stop by EM & Co. Heck, if you live in Los Angeles then you need to take a trip to this store. The cutting edge boutique features an impressive collection of clothing, shoes, and jewelry – many of which you won’t find anywhere else. It’s hard not to fall in love with the place and even harder not to walk out with bags full of interesting goodies. They even have an on-site tailor in case that Vivian Westwood dress you happen to fall in love with needs a bit of tweaking here and there.


Another great thing about EM & Co (besides the friendly staff) is that the store is an active supporter of local talent. All the artwork on the walls are by local artist and Em & Co frequently host monthly art exhibits and other events that feature the local artists and designers whose merchandise they carry. Luckily for us we were fortunate enough to catch a fashion show featuring KM2Shoes. Let me tell you these shoes are A-M-A-Z-I-N-G.

Founded by sisters Megan, Katelyn, and Mattison Gelber KM2’s shoes are by far the most stunning, drop dead gorgeous heels around. Not only are these girls extremely talented, but there are also very nice and savvy when it comes to business. Their shoes are a piece of art. Each one is crafted by hand and is adorned with items ranging from feathers, to bows, to chains, to vintage jewelry. The night of the show Katelyn happen to be wearing a pair of metallic silver heels that her sister Megan designed for her. And, even though all the shoes in a particular style may look alike the ornaments may vary, so it’s like the sister’s created a special shoe just for you. (They also take custom orders.) The prices are really reasonable for the amount of work and detail that goes into them ($195 - $295) and aside from being diva worthy they are very comfortable too (hence KM2’s motto “shoes to live in”). Seriously, Alexander McQueen needs to hire these girls. I can see their creations on his cat walk.

Another reason to love KM2 is that 10% of all profits go to stop Human Trafficking. The sisters even created a Mary Jo cuff that you can purchase and wear to show your support for the cause. A number of girls at the fashion show were wearing the cuff, which are made of ribbons and adorned with Swarovski crystals and are quite beautiful.
