When BiteMe! Received the invite to attend the Emerging L.A. Designers Fashion Show at Em and Co we were happy to accept. We had a great experience with them the week before, so we knew we couldn't go wrong. Plus, we love browsing through all the great selections that the store has to offer. If you're planning on stopping by be sure to swing by El Carmen for a drink, which happens to be a few blocks down and is a new favorite on our list.
Hosted by emerging recording artist Kimberly Cole the event was broadcast worldwide via live-stream on goldenstylelive.com. The first presentation of the night was from Queenie4ever. 17 year old Tatiana McLane is the creative force behind Queenie4ever. Inspired by Japanese pop culture and old Hollywood glamour the collection was flirty and fun, so much so that the models danced happily down the runway. It was evident that they loved the creations, and their enthusiasm made you want to run out and buy McLane's clothes. A black and white Harajuku dress was worn by a model sporting Minnie Mouse ears. She was adorable in the outfit, and the ears were the perfect accessory. The model wearing a t-shirt and tutu skirt twilled down the cat walk like she was a ballerina in a fairy tale. The pink lace dress was beautiful, and the fuchsia china doll dress is a Goth girls dream. The collection ended with a white Princess long eyelet dress. It was the prefect romantic wedding dress for a nice spring wedding. Queenie4ever (created by Tatiana and her mom Venice Wong) was developed with the intent to inspire young girls to follow their dreams. Even though Tatiana is only 17 (she started making jewelry when she was 9) her creations can be enjoyed by anyone who is young at heart. http://www.queenie4ever.com/.
The evening ended with a presentation by Ventidue, which was created by Italian designer Barbara Rosin. Featuring a number of leather pieces the collection conveyed a sophisticated rock-n-roll vibe. The models wore jewelry by Helles and shoes from KM2, both of which were the perfect match for Ventidue's spring collection. One of my favorite pieces of the night was the Leather Straps Dress, which was a take on the men's dress shirt and a more chic alternative. The pleated leather skirt was very rock star worthy, and the black leather shorts looked fabulous paired with a crisp white shirt.
