There are two things we look forward to when Lady Summer starts to stretch those slender legs: more skin and box office hits accompanied with great soundtracks. Ok, so there might be more but thanks to the trailer for The Great Gatsby I'm looking forward to the debut this coming May.
Yes, Leonardo DiCaprio is a great actor. Yes, Tobey McGuire gives me the creeps, but damn that Baz Luhrmann and his flashy stills and vibrant colors depicting the era of flappers, war, and bootlegging…. What made me want to watch the movie more? The soundtrack, of course!
This tedious and honorable task of making your ears agree with your stimulated eye balls was given to Jeymes Samuel (also known as “The Bullitts”) and a little someone who knows a smidge about music, Jay-Z. Together the listing of artists ranges from, of course, Beyonce, to The xx in addition to a little Fergie and some Sia.
The most entrancing tune that you’ll get a snippet of is Jack White’s beautifully off-key rendition of U2’s “Love is Blindness.” I was hoping to share with you the horrendous lullaby that Mr. White produces but, of course, it was so good that YouTube decided to make us wait until the movie premieres or until someone else finds a way to ‘legally’ upload the track again. Meanwhile, I leave you a few treasures:
