Contemporary Collections Runway Show SS2011 @ CMC

The Contemporary Collections Runway Show featured contemporary brands from select showrooms located in the California Market Center. A number of labels previewed their Spring/Summer 2011 collections while guests sipped on complimentary organic wine courtesy of Frey and Magnanimus Wines.

Darling sent out a variety of feminine vintage inspired clothing. The company is expanding its reach beyond London and bringing its English countryside style to the U.S. Playful looks for summer graced the runway ranging from baby-doll dresses with lace appliqués to refined tops and flirty skirts.

Amour Vert presented a chic and sustainable collection comprised of silk dresses, sporty shorts, and casual blazers. Based in the California Bay Area and designed by Parisian native Linda Balti, Amour Vert’s urban eco-conscious clothing caters to the environmentally conscious woman.

Eva Varro’s accessible yet stylish looks are quite versatile. Made from slinky, figure flattering fabrics the Spring/Summer collection contained a variety of pieces—ranging from hip tops to colorful mini dresses that can go from office to evening in a flash.

Hippietiques unveiled a contemporary retro-chic collection with a 60’s & 70’s flair that was geared towards the bohemian fashionista.

Lindi’s collection featured a variety pieces that were resourceful and fun. Novelty tops in bold patterns graced the runway. The garments featured flattering cuts that would compliment all body types.

A.B.S. by Allen Schwartz made its sportswear debut with the launch of Blue Pearl – a casual California inspired line comprised of beachy tops, printed tunics, maxi dresses, and relaxed slacks. This was by far my favorite collection of the evening. We were fortunate enough to be invited down to the A.B.S. showroom after the presentations where we were given an up-close and personal view of the Blue Pearl collection, which is due to hit stores in March. The garments were constructed with the same quality that one expects from A.B.S. The line had more of an upscale resort look than what you’d expect from your average sportswear. These mix and match pieces would be perfect for lounging on the beaches of St. Tropez.
