Hollywood Doll And More At Style Fashion Week

I was back at Vibiana to catch more shows put together by Style Fashion Week. I was sad to see that the Moët bar was gone, but happy to see that DJ BoomBoxBri was spinning cool tunes. With each show comes a different vibe and a different crowd and with childrenswear being the focus of the opening shows there were lots of little tykes running around.

Heck, even Willy Wonka was there.

I have to give a shout out to @felixfoto. Felix is a well-known photographer who covers just about every fashion event in Los Angeles. Felix is always taking pictures of others so I figured he deserved to be featured in honor of his birthday (3/13).

The buzz of the evening revolved around Hollywood Doll – a fashion line created by Kaya Jones (Pussycat Dolls) and Traver Rains (Heatherette). Before things got underway Willy Wonka appeared on the runway to introduce the line and transport us to the magical fairy tale land where these whimsical pieces were created. And, with the wave of his cane designer/singer Kaya Jones came to life and started the show with a performance of her current hit “Hollywood Doll.”

Kaya and Traver created Hollywood Doll with the goal of helping young girls build their self-esteem and confidence through bold, expressive clothing. And, let’s just say these little girls exuded confidence. They had a blast strutting their stuff on the runway. With Heatherette’s glitz combined with the Pussycat Doll’s glamour and Betsey Johnson’s stamp of approval how could you not have fun wearing these garments, which featured an array of vibrant colors and playful patterns. The Hollywood Doll brand will also offer accessories, beauty products, and a collection of dolls that will wear replicas of apparel from the fashion line.

On the other end of the spectrum Frankie and Sue—designed by Alicia Wasberg and Carol Duffy— presented a collection of trendy bohemian clothing for girls ranging from ages 2 – 7. Typically, when kids are on the runway they walk so fast that it’s impossible to get a good shot. However, these little dolls had a bit of stage fright so there were plenty of opportunities to capture the moment.

Based out of NYC es+es is a fashion driven lifestyle brand that caters to girls between the ages of 4 – 10. A number of pieces were very on-trend and the collection ranged from party dresses to smart jackets to sophisticated and casual looks.

Designer Nguyen Quynh Nhu took us from kidswear to womenswear with her Quynh Paris’ Anterior Future collection. Quynh’s Parisian background often inspires her to transform her models into walking art installations. Thus, the effervescent pieces that graced the runway were comprised of a mix of haute couture and ready to wear.
