Thread Show LA Fall/Winter 2011

The recent installment of Thread LA was a lot of fun. I’m not sure if it was the wide variety of vendors or the number of familiar faces. Either way, it was an enjoyable way to spend a Sunday as there were lots of bargains to be found.

Lok’d Jewelry: Edgy Accessories For Your Inner Child

I attend numerous sample sales and, for the most part, I come across the same ole same ole. However, at a recent Sassy City Chicks event I discovered something quite cool – Lok’d Jewelry. Created by Jase Calderon, Lok’d’s cutting edge designs are achieved by applying a reverse engineering technique on a common childhood staple – the Lego. These avant garde pieces fuse punk rock glamour with Urban pseudo bling and range from deconstructed pyramid rings to dramatic bib necklaces to flirtatious disco-esque earrings. Jase’s creations provide a fresh, funky way to show off your love for Legos. Plus, with the holidays around the corner you'll score brownie points in the gifting department. Get a Head Start on Your Holiday Shopping at Thread L.A.

With Thanksgiving around the corner it’s time to get started on your Holiday shopping. Lucky for you, the Thread Show is just a week away (Sunday Nov. 13^th) and it will be a great opportunity to stock up on gifts and grab a few things for yourself as well. Featured vendors include our favorites: LisaMichelle and L’Une. MYVL and Neoclassics will also have their apparel for sale. Jewelry designers Nolan Jewelry, Micha Designs, and MaridaJewelry will have their wares on display. Hemptress will feature their latest collection of conscientious handbags made from hemp, and Magnetic Grain will be selling their artistic wood home furnishings.  Of course there will be a lot more vendors and because Thread is more than just a shopping event guests will also be treated to a style and wellness lunge. There will also be live music, a pop-up local art gallery, a nail bar, a gift wrapping lounge, a swap lounge (to trade your old clothes), a full bar, snacks, and a photo booth to capture the memories. Thread Returns to L.A. Just in Time for the Holidays

The Thread Show is returning to L.A. and we are very excited for the opportunity to stock up on locally made, ethically produced trend-setting gifts. The holiday shopping event will showcase over 100 top local independent designers and artists. In addition to the numerous vendors Thread will also feature a DIY Gift Wrapping Lounge, a holiday-themed photo booth, live music, a pop-up local art gallery, a style lounge, nail bar, live screen printing, the Thread Well Lounge, giveaways, and more. A limited number of premium tickets are available, which grants you early access to the show, a cool gift bag, and a complimentary cocktail. General admission tickets are $5 if you purchase in advance (or if you bring a bag of gently used clothes to donate to a local charity) and $10 at the door. Thread Holiday Pop-up Shop - December, 2010

The Thread show is a pretty regular event in San Diego. However, the last time it was in L.A. was 2 years ago, so I was thrilled when I heard it was back. What’s so great about Thread? Well, the Thread show is not just a shopping event – it’s a place where you and your friends can shop, hang out, and have a good time.

This traveling showcase for emerging, independent designers is a great place to find unique, one-of-a kind pieces for every budget. This weekend’s event featured runway shows, free mani’s and massages (Dipped Nail Salon and Chiropractique), a clothes swap lounge, a photo booth, and complimentary beverages from of CalNaturale organic wine, Smirnoff, Jose Cuervo, Captain Morgan, RedBull, O.N.E. Coconut Water, and Metromint.
