Metropolitan Fashion Week Fashion and Costume Awards


Metropolitan Fashion Week held its 6th Annual Fashion and Costume Awards show on October 6th at the iconic Los Angeles City Hall Forecourt and Rotunda.


America’s Next Top Model Ava Capra and MFW Founder and President Eduardo Khawam hosted the event. Actor Steve Carell presented the Excellence Award to three-time Academy Award winning makeup artist Ve Neill (A Star Is Born, Beetlejuice, Mrs. Doubtfire).


Ruth Carter (Black Panther) and Mary E Vogt (Crazy Rich Asians) both won an award for Costume Designer of the Year – Motion Pictures. Jacqueline Demeterio (Younger) won Costume Designer of the Year – Television. Awards for Outstanding Ensemble For Make-Up Artist and Hair Stylist went to Joel Harlow, Camille Friend, and Ken Diaz (Black Panther). The award for Fashion Designer of the Year went to Douglas Tapia.




The gala also showcased a unique, exclusive one-of-a-kind runway fashion show featuring designers MELLARDI, Giovanni Testi, Erick Bendana. Douglas Tapia presented the Metropolitan Fashion Capsule Collection. Hats were courtesy of Arturo and makeup was provided by Cinema Makeup School.


There was also a special showcase inspired by the King Tut: Treasures of the Golden Pharaoh Exhibit, which was designed by over 15 International Fashion Designers.
