The Los Angeles Fashion Council held its first Open Runway presentation at Couture Los Angeles this past weekend. The monthly showcase was designed to present a unique opportunity for emerging designers by providing a venue for them to showcase their work in and compete for a chance to win a complimentary spot in the LAFC Spring 2014 Collections Showcase.
Samantha Eng was the first designer to present her collection. Samantha designs contemporary women's clothing that targets trendy females who prefer to feel comfortable while looking stylish but still want to present a sophisticated yet cool and edgy image. Her garments focus on an easy fit for a variety of women's bodies.

Up next was The Paulettes. The L.A. based clothing line was formed via a collaboration between French designer Camille Lavigne and co-founder Rufino Acuna. Each garment is developed in a local, family owned factory. Together Camille and Rufino create comfortable and feminine pieces that can be adapted to an everyday lifestyle.
The third presentation was by Undercover Lover. This revolutionary brand combines comfortable apparel with convenient accessories. Their costume inspired pieces are go to staples for the music festival crowd.
Veltimera was the fourth showcase. The label provides Eco-friendly high-quality fashion made of organic and recycled materials with great textures and prints, none of which are derived from animal skins, leathers, or furs.
Sabel Made closed out the evening. Designer Serena Abel specializes in colorful clothing geared toward accentuating ones natural beauty. What sets Sabel Made apart from the rest is that the customer chooses the type/style of garment and the artwork that will be printed on the fabric. Then Serena hand paints and sews each garment in her L.A. studio.
Be sure to visit the Los Angeles Fashion Council’s Facebook Page to vote for your favorite designer and help them make it to round two of the competition.
