2011 Grammy Style Studio – Part 3

Welcome to part 3 of my coverage of the 2011 Grammy Style Studio.

La Femme had a collection of dresses ranging from evening to cocktail. Comprised of a group of designers, La Femme offers everything from formal wear to prom to bridal to cocktail. Their gowns have been seen on the red carpet at The Academy Awards and the Emmys and are also worn on the pageant circuit as well.

Alana Hale is an ambitious young lady who started designing at the age of 9. She draws her inspiration from Hollywood icons, rock ‘n’ roll rebels, and European royalty. Often using lavish fabrics—leather, silks, and metallic threads—Alana mixes lady-like glamour with dramatic showmanship. She also started experimenting with handbags and jewelry and is currently developing a jewelry line with Johnny Weir. The stylist for Paramore was eyeing a few pieces including an embossed burgundy leather “Croc Dress,” which I thought would look great on Rihanna. Alana wasn’t at the event because she was preparing for her London Fashion Week debut, but I got to meet her proud parents who were quite lovely.

Jill Reno was in the same suite with Alana Hale. Her unique, breathtaking jewelry is worn by Jane Lynch, Eva Longoria, and Gene Simmons. Jill travels the world to hand select elegant, one-of-a-kind gemstones and other materials to create delicate chain necklaces and chunky statement pieces. Jill’s mission is to create art that touches the human soul and provokes an emotional response. You can see this reflected in each piece of her collection.

I was so thrilled to see the LisaMichelle collection being featured at The Grammy Style Studio. As you all know I’m a big fan of LisaMichelle. Designer Lisa Michelle Felsenthal was on hand to show me her new spring collection of dresses and accessories, which I loved! Amber Rose walked in while I was admiring Lisa’s new line. I found out later that she selected a pink little number that I’m sure would accentuate her skin tone. Erica Taylor also picked up something to wear to the Grammys. Lisa’s clothes are luxurious and wearable. They are a visual work of art. I can see Fergie and Alicia Keys strutting their stuff in LisaMichelle. Across the way Elvis Laskin had an fascinating collection on display. Melissa Laskin, stylist turned designer, is also an artist who transfers her prints onto fabrics and sequence in order to create colorful dresses and super soft abstract Tees. Melissa named her line after her beloved cat Elvis. She showed me some pictures of her adorable feline companion. Check out this fashionable young lady wearing an Elvis Laskin top with a Lisa Michelle skirt and necklace in the intro photo to this post.

A Bagstil purse would go great with something from the LisaMichelle collection. However, I think a Charlie Lapson bag would pair nicely with something from Alana Hale or Elvis Laskin. Charlie Lapson’s handbags represent American urban glamour. His contemporary and edgy bags are celebrity favorites. Charlie Lapson bags are made from fine Italian leather and feature hand-painted details. He also designs a line of jewelry and watches. His jewelry, which features precious stones and pave settings, is inspired by vintage estate pieces and includes giant cocktail rings and chandelier earrings.
