Co-Op 28 Handmade hosted a trunk show and cocktail reception for Christy Jackson in honor of the new addition of the “Puddle Ring” to her Verve Jewelry line.
Founded in 2006, Verve Jewelry features handcrafted artisan pieces with a bohemian feel. Most are one of a kind and they range from delicate and wispy to chunky and bold. The inspiration for the puddle ring came from melted wax. It really is a cool concept that fits well with Verve’s aesthetic.

In addition to her love for creating beautiful jewelry, Christy is also very passionate about animal rescue. Thus, a portion of Verve’s sales are used to rescue dogs and cats from L.A. County shelters. Christy has fostered over 60 animals and has given a forever home to several animals. Here she is with the newest addition to her family.
Proceeds from the trunk show sale went to benefit Kitt Crusaders Cat Rescue. A member of the organization brought one of their adorable kittens that is currently up for adoption. Of course, everyone feel in love with Leonard. If you’re interested in providing a loving home for this little guy contact Kitt Crusaders via their website. If you can’t adopt perhaps you’ll be kind enough to make a small donation on his behalf.
Since this was an animal friendly event a number of people brought their pets. Perhaps they knew that Macri’s (Owner of Co-Op) Dalmatian Pretzel is a shop staple who likes to assist customers with picking out their purchases.
If you haven’t been to Co-Op 28 you’re in for a treat. The store carries a wide selection of handmade goods by local artists and designers. Think Etsy in a boutique setting. Marci carries a unique selection of jewelry, handbags, artwork, accessories, trinkets, handmade soaps, candles, home goods, and clothing for men, women, and children.
If you’re looking for a one-of-a-kind gift you’ll most likely find it here. I bet that hard to shop for individual doesn’t own a clock made from an old book.
There’s also a vintage section located in the back of the store. All items—handmade or vintage—are reasonably priced. Marci doesn’t believe in carrying anything with an outrageous price point. Her goal is to offer quality items to her customers that she can sell at a sensible price.
If you want to support small businesses I encourage you to shop at Co-Op 28. If you want to treat yourself to a beautiful piece of jewelry and help a good cause then purchase something from the Verve collection. Christy also does private parties, so you and your girlfriends can shop in the comfort of your own home. Visit Verve’s site for more info.
