Gather Boutique Opens in Los Feliz

On Thursday November 3^rd I attended the grand opening of Gather Boutique in Los Feliz. Founded by designer Katie Kay, Gather features locally designed jewelry, accessories, and apparel. The shop carries an eclectic array of merchandise ranging from beaver-tooth necklaces to sliver rings cast from iguana skulls to fancy turbans to 70’s inspired handbags.  In terms of apparel there’s a wide selection spanning from jersey knit maxi dresses to lace-flared pants to apocalyptic leatherwear to funky fringed tees. Featured brands include ISM Mode, Venius Turbans, Ai forAi, Painted Coyote, and S.O.B (to name a few).

DJ’s Boom Bip and Aaron Castle provided cool tunes and drinks were courtesy of Boxed Water, Peroni Beer, and Paul M Young Fine Wines. A number of locals stopped by to see what this hip little boutique had to offer. One of which was designer Mila Hermanovski. She was scoping out the boutique in hopes of becoming a member of the Gather family. (I think her line would be a perfect fit.)

Katie’s motive behind Gather is to help indie designers achieve their creative and commercial goals by assisting them with developing their brands into a viable force in the fashion market. In addition to providing a retail outlet, she also offers consulting services and provides a showroom where stylist and buyers can browse the latest selections from the shop’s featured artists.
