Anthony Franco SS2012 @ L.A. Fashion Weekend

On Thursday night The Gallery L.A. held a pre- L.A. FashionWeekend kick-off party at Sunset Gower Studios. The event gave us the opportunity to get familiar with one of the shows sponsors – Screen Shop. Screen Shop’s Motto is “See it. Click it. Own it.” Founders, Erika Smith, Kirk Ward, and Greg Coolidge were available to tell us how it worked. Basically, if you see a pair of shoes, article of clothing, a necklace, a guitar, etc…on television or a music video you go to the Screen Shop website and search for that particular show or video. Your search result will tell you who made the piece and what it costs. All you have to do is click and buy. It's a pretty neat concept.

Drinks were courtesy of Nobleza Tequila, Evans PremiumLager, Marani Vodka, and Moreno Sparkling Wine.  Founded in 2006 by Paula Torres, Nobleza is the first female founded tequila company. the lovely ladies behind the brand served us samples of their award winning Blue Agave Reposado, Anejo, and Blanco tequilas. They also make a mean spicy margarita.

On Friday I was back at Sunset Gower for the Anthony Franco Runway Show. I ran into a number of friends that I typically only see at L.A. Fashion Weekend. Two of which were Vanessa Gonzalez and her boyfriend Chris Francis. They are both designers and probably the most stylish couple on the scene. Chris is working on a line of leather jackets (see photo below), which are quite beautiful and Vanessa’s should be debuting her line in Spring of 2012. Stay tuned for updates.

Jack Black and my friend Kate Linder from Young and the Restless were also in attendance. Jack was incredibly nice and he was gracious enough to take photos with his fans.

A wardrobe stylist for major commercials and the big screen, Anthony Franco came back from a 3 year fashion hiatus last October and from the looks of his SS 2012 presentation he’ll be around for awhile. His collection was not only beautiful but impressive. It’s not often that a designer will excel at both womenswearr and menswear but Franco proved he had a knack for both. He sent a number of expertly tailored suits down the runway, and I wanted to own just about every piece in the women’s collection.

After the show everyone headed off to Tru Hollywood because it wouldn’t be a L.A. Fashion Weekend event without a great after party.
