Chemline Boutique’s Spring/Summer Launch Party

My first introduction to Chemline was at Concept Fashion Week this past March. I was very impressed with the retro inspired collection, so when I received the invitation to the SS preview party I was excited. Hosted by the lovely Averi Bell (designer for Chemline) at her darling Chinatown boutique/studio the event gave selected guests the opportunity to preview the SS collections from the emerging designers featured in her store. Averi firmly believes in supporting the community so she’s opened up her shop to her friends and other labels that share her eco-friendly vision.

Not only do the featured lines—ISM Mode, Lavuk, Kelly Lane, and Chemline—share the same vision; they also share a similar aesthetic. Averi did a great job curating the collections because when you walk in the shop you are not abruptly greeted with a mish mash of clothing. Instead, there’s an overall cohesiveness that emanates a Zen-like vibe. In addition to sustainable garments you’ll also find fabulous jewelry from Darrell Roach and Tiffany Kunz, as well as some great handbags by Ashley Watson. Ashley’s purses are handcrafted from recycled leather products (mainly jackets) that she buys from charity thrift stores.

Since Chemline’s boutique is located in a courtyard and most of the shops around it close at 5 p.m. it really is a perfect location for a launch party. Guests had plenty of room to mingle, enjoy complimentary drinks, and groove to the tunes provided by KCRW’s Raul Campos and The reMitch. Later on in the evening they received an extra special treat – a live performance by the electro indie pop trio Mansions On The Moon. Attendees who made a purchase got an awesome gift bag that contained P.O.P. Candy’s butter crunch toffee (which is highly addictive), a lovely top from Chemline, a fun shirt from Lavuk, a super soft scarf from ISM Mode, a stylish brass cuff from Darrell Roach, a cool leather business card holder from Ashley Watson, peppermint foot scrub and lip balm courtesy of Amorouscents, extreme moisture shea lotion from KleanSpa, and the debut EP from Mansion On The Moon. (Check back for the review.) Rumor has it there may be another party at the end of the summer. You can bet I’ll be checking my inbox for the invite. Until then be sure to stop by and show Averi some love and support the indie fashion community. Chemline’s boutique is located at 504 Chung King Ct. Los Angeles, CA. 90012 Hours: Thurs – Sat 11 am – 7 p.m.
