The Gen Art L.A. Fashion Alumni Celebration

Gen Art kicked of LA Fashion Week, Fall 2010, with a poolside party at the Tropicana located at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel. The event commended Gen Art's fashion alumni designers who have shaped and influenced the art of L.A. Fashion and gone on to develop thriving businesses. The honorees included Jeffrey Sebelia and Rami Kashou, of Project Runway fame, in addition to Brigid Catiis, Geren Lockhart (Geren Ford), Louis Verdad, and Eduardo Lucero, to name a few.

It was a beautiful, warm spring night as guest mingled with the designers and their models, who wore a signature look designed for the night's event. The stylish Amber Rose—decked out in a skin tight black shirt, ruffled mini, and stilettos—hosted the festivities, which included a sponsored photo station where guests dressed up in prom-themed accessories and had their picture taken by Howard Wise. The promo was in conjunction with the announcement of a national fashion designer competition between Gen Art and Clean & Clear Skincare, which will provide up and coming designers a chance to create a prom dress for a teenager. The winning designer will receive $5,000 courtesy of Clean & Clear to produce their winning design for one lucky teen. Entries are due 4/9/2010. To submit your design go to www.discover.genart.org. If you're a teen that wants to own the winning dress visit www.seventeen.com/StartToFinish

While there were many famous faces in the crowd the highlight of the evening was meeting Jeffrey Sebelia. Having rooted for him all throughout his stint on Project Runway it was great to find out that he is a very sincere and down-to-earth person. Jeffrey was recently appointed as head designer of Fluxus in addition to heading his own Cosa Nostra line. His model was also fabulous and would be a great addition to any runway show.
