Concept Fashion Week at The Spring Arts Tower

In an effort to put the focus back on designers during L.A. Fashion, Week Mike Vensel and Brady Westwater put together the first Concept Fashion Week event with hopes of making it a staple for future fashion weeks.

Concept LAFW kicked off on Monday March 22nd with runway shows from Chelsea Rebelle, B:Scott, and Fremont Apparel Co. On the mezzanine level guest were treated to installations by Elmer Ave, Mike Vensel, Otto Gates (Katie Kay), and Farm Tactics.

Tuesday featured runway presentations by Jen Awad, martinMARTIN, and The Battalion with installations by Skin.Graft, Valerj Pobega, John Sakalis (Project Runway Alumn), Indian Casino Fashion, and an encore showing by Otto Gates.

The after party was held on night three at the Crocker Club, which is located in the basement of the Spring Arts Tower and at one time housed the vault of the former Crocker Citizens National Bank. The classic bank vault turned sophisticated cocktail lounge is the coolest place to hold a party. You can sit in the vault itself amongst the old safety deposit boxes nestled in what has been dubbed the “Mosler Lounge,” or enjoy a semi-private booth in the “Ghost Bar,” which once served as a private room in which to count your loot. Guests mingled with designers and the event organizers while sipping on complementary cocktails provided by Dirty Blonde and snacking on cupcakes courtesy of Kitchen 24. If you like champagne you must try the Dirty Blonde Champagne Cocktails. Currently, you can purchase Raspberry Flirtini and Peach Passion Bellini at Henry's , BevMo! and select Ralphs locations. Kudos to Mike and Brady for putting together a fantastic event that really put the focus on some of L.A.’s top talent in the fashion industry. I look forward to seeing what they have in store for Fashion Week L.A. Spring 2011.
