Lily.B at Meet The Public

As promised, Meet The Public had special surprises every night. I attended the preview party and returned a week later for the skincare/makeup presentation by Lily.B and Anthony Gordon.

Founded by Liz Bishop, Lily.B Skincare was designed specifically to help protect skin and restore its natural health. The products contain natural protective antioxidants, skin nourishing and age defying ingredients and there are no any skin irritating ingredients. Liz worked with doctors from the Mayo clinic during the development process if her line. The Mayo clinic now endorses her products and uses them in their oncology department. Lily.B’s products are not tested on animals, and the company donates a portion of all proceeds to organizations that help women in need. I love supporting companies like this. I had received a few samples a week earlier and had noticed the improvements within a few days. Another great thing about Lily’B’s products – they won’t break the bank.

Anthony Gordon—whose clients include actresses, models, and musicians—is L.A.’s most sought after makeup artist and hair stylist, so it was a real treat to not only meet him but to also sit in on a demo. For being so high-profile Anthony is the sweetest, most down-to-earth guy. He demonstrated his technique for applying makeup on his clients. He is an advocate of the Lily.B line because it allows makeup to absorb into the skin; thus, leaving a smoother more natural look. His routine begins with the Red Tea Defense Booster/Hydrating Serum, then he applies the Ultra Eye Cream, and finishes with the 24/7 Defense Daily Moisturizer. After that he applies makeup. Anthony was also kind enough to show us a few tricks of the trade.

If you haven’t made it down to Meet The Public the event closes on Sunday. Don’t miss the opportunity to meet the designers and score some good deals. While you are there you can pick up the perfect little black dress from L’une, a cool handbag from Bagstil, statement pieces from Nana Bijou Jewerly, and hot eco-friendly heels from Yotam Solomon. (Be sure to check out Yotam’s “BP Oil Spill” collection. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the NRDC and Defenders of Wildlife.)

I had the pleasure of speaking to a few of the designers, many of which are just starting out. Yvonne Podlewski, creator of t-minx makes retro-throwback tees that are oh-so-comfy. Kelsi of TwoPointOhLA mentioned that her t-minx deep scoop shirt is one of her all-time favs. If you’re looking for a special birthday gift check out T-minx’s Zodiac collection.

Juan Chavez and David Jordan, the creative duo behind Seam Ripper, should be put on your watch list. Their edgy streetwear is inspired by avant-garde music and art. These guys may be newbies but their potential is unlimited. I expect to see great things from Seam Ripper in the near future.

I love when I see someone wearing something cool and ask them where they got it and they say, “It’s from my collection.” Lisa Felsenthal was wearing a fabulous, pink metallic jacket that I had been eyeing all night. She showed me the rest of her collection, which works for formal, festive, and everyday (work or play) occasions. She adds extra detail to the finishing process and also makes accessories that compliment her line and can be mixed and matched with other pieces. Lisa brought some of her beautiful cuffs to give to the TwoPointOhLA bloggers. I really like this cuff. It’s edgy yet chic and perfect for the holidays.

Eric Devezin makeup artist turned makeup creator was on hand to show us his mineral collection. Having worked in film and theatre he wanted to create collection that looked good on camera but wouldn’t cause breakouts. His products promote natural looking beauty without compromising the skin’s condition and his price line is compatible to MAC. Eric has an extensive resume and has worked with a number of celebrity clients. However, he has not forgotten his roots and makes it a point to give back to the community. Eric is proof that hard work and determination goes a long way.

Meet The Public ends on November 14th. If you don’t have time to stop by visit www.fashionlosangeles.org/meetthepublic to go to the participating vendors’ websites directly. Bravo to TwoPointOhLA and Fashion Los Angeles for coordinating such a great event and exposing the public to these talented individuals. I hope they do this again. (Meet The Public is located at 620 S. Main St. Downtown, L.A.)
