A Dream In The Garden Of ICIS Fashion Show

Icis Living and Fashion Hope joined forces to put together an evening of fashion, dancing, and fun to benefit The Abolish Slavery Coalition, which works to prevent the spread of modern-day slavery, establishes task forces to rescue victims and assist them on the road to recovery.

The festivities began with a cocktail hour featuring organic food courtesy of Granville Café, and Middle Eastern appetizers from Carousel Catering. KL Wine Merchants hosted the bar, and Sweets For The Soul treated us to some sinfully delicious gourmet brownies. There were also yummy petit fours from Victory Café.

Miss Los Angeles Latina 2013, Adriana Davalos, was the guest host for the evening and Aaron Cohen and Melissa Hoon (reps for The Abolish Slavery Coalition) told us all about the organization’s work. Aaron is a humanitarian, activist, and author specializing in Human Trafficking. He wrote Slave Hunter: One Man’s Global Quest to Free Victims of Human Trafficking and was also bestowed with the Prize for Humanity by the Immortal Chaplains Foundation for his undercover work rescuing human trafficking victims in Africa, the Middle East, South America, and Southeast Asia. Melissa’s role is equally important as she assists the rescued individuals with making the transition back to a “normal” life.

Guests were also treated to a fashion show, which featured featuring designs by CaliLu, BAGSTIL, 020608 Tears of Bleu, Raghouse International, KBird, and Amorroma. Not only are these looks carried at The Collection at Icis (a unique pop-up boutique located at Icis Living) but the designers themselves are all committed to fair trade practices and freedom for all.

Models wore shoes from Jen and Kim and their hair was styled by Salon Mix (which specializes in innovative styles) and Studio Vasi.

After the presentations attendees were invited to the pop-up shop so they could purchase their favorite looks from each designer’s collection. Proceeds from the evening’s sales went to benefit The Abolish Slavery Coalition as did the funds collected from raffle ticket sales, of which prizes were generously donated by the designers.
