LA Fashion Weekend SS2013 Emerging Designer Showcase

I always enjoy going to Sunset Gower Studios. The security guards at the gate are very friendly and they remember me. Tonight was extra special because the lovely Ms. January was kind enough to give me a lift to the back of the lot on the golf cart. Trust me, it’s a long walk.  

Inside the lounge area the DJ was spinning killer tunes and the party was in full swing. 

Another great thing about LA Fashion Weekend is all the familiar faces and the ability to make new friends and network. Here are some of my favorite peeps. 

I spotted these two stylish men the night before - Enrique Godoy Ynzenga and Alan McCune. They own an executive assistance concierge company called Skinny Executives. 

Of course I was thrilled to see Michael Kuluva designer for Tumbler and Tipsy. Isn't he adorable?

Also in the house was Eric Secharia from Midnight Red.

Pop Star Hannah Alter kicked the show into high gear with an energetic performance of her single “All Around The World”. 

On of Mikey’s goals for LA Fashion Weekend was to have it serve as a launching pad for local and international designers, so it makes sense that she would hold an Emerging Designer Showcase.  The first presentation was by Flynn Skye. The line was inspired by designer Amber Farr’s daughter and the Venice, CA lifestyle.  It was very California casual chic with an earthy bohemian feel and vibe. Instead of taking a bow Amber came out at the end and took a picture of the crowd.

Black Hearts Brigade collection was funky and free spirited. Lots of tie dies and knits. The overall vibe was relaxed and casual with a refined edge.  

Wolfée p presented basic pieces that can easily be integrated in order to create different looks. The line focused on a number of off shoulder dresses and tops in wild prints. 

g.KIM designer Grace Kim started her line for women who want key pieces in their wardrobe that can be mixed and matched for any occasion. Her collection consisted of feminine dresses, uniquely structured jackets, and billowy pants. Some garments had a vintage feel with over-sized collars and belted waists. Others were more edgy and modern with interesting silhouettes. The eclectic looks draw from the designer’s background in art, literature, history, and a love of various cultures. 

The favorite showcase of the evening was by Parides. Those who returned for Sunday’s show were still raving about how much they loved it. Designer Shahida Parides delivered a stunningly beautiful collection featuring bold and vibrant prints, which she created herself. The shoes even matched some of the garments. It was quite impressive.
