Nuvula at Concept Fashion Week

Friday, March 9th, marked the opening night of Concept at ACE Gallery located in LA’s Museum Row. Nuvula held the honors of hosting the first runway show of the evening. The International label’s motto is: Wear Your Imagination and tonight’s presentation was a true reflection of such. The Fall/Winter 2012 collection titled, “In the airs of La Belle Époque,” is a tribute in colors and textures to Gustav Klimt and Toulouse Lautrec and the imaginary wardrobes of their muses.

The presentation started off with a live performance of ‘El Tango De Roxanne” (from Moulin Rouge). The lovely songstress was accompanied by a violinist and a cellist. The music set an operatic tone, which was perfect because it allowed the models to strut slowly down the catwalk, which made it easier to take pictures.
Founded by Columbian designers Rebeca and Vanessa Victoria, Nuvula’s creations embodied a mixture of bohemian, romantic, and urban spirit. A wide variety of influences and styles were represented, such as the Kimono inspired dresses.

Houndstooth, velvet, and exaggerated collars also played a central role.

As did the riding pants featuring asymmetrical mismatched patterns and jackets with large pointed shoulders.

Nuvula is an eco-friendly company that uses vegan or artificial leathers and refrains from the use of any fur-like material. Some of their garments feature messages and illustrations that spread positive social change or calls to action. Sales from proceeds of these products go to various charities and non-profits around the world. Their current focus is Darfur.
