King Boutique – Grand Opening Party

I’ve been a long time fan of Terri King’s creations. In fact, I’m not the only one. Her list of celebrity clientele is extensive and her creations have appeared on numerous covers of Rolling Stone Magazine. Terri also specializes in creating custom clothing for film, television, and museums. She also designs bridal gowns (she made mine and I received many compliments since it was anything but traditional) and couture corsetry (Terri was the costume designer for the Bravo Reality T.V. series Forty Deuce).

In the past I had to go to Terri’s studio whenever I needed something fabulous to wear—In addition to my wedding gown she also made a special dress (featuring a dragon motif) for my birthday, which I wore again a few weeks ago for Chinese New Year—so I was excited when I heard the news that Terri was opening a boutique on Melrose.

In addition to the Terri King Line the shop also carries some of the apparel she designed for V-Moda.

One of the store’s most popular pieces is the “convertible”. It can be worn as a trench or you can unzip it at the waist and turn it into a short coat. Unzip the sleeves and it can be worn as a vest or a dress. I love how it ties like a corset in the back.

The party was held on a Saturday night. Even though it was a semi-private affair Terri’s adoring fans came out in force to celebrate the shop’s grand opening. A majority of the guest were dressed in her signature creations. They sipped on custom libations courtesy of Becherovka while mingling and grooving to the cool tunes provided by a hip DJ.



There were a number of celebrities in attendance (Christina Aguilera was scheduled to stop by later in the week) including kaRIN and Statik from Collide. kaRIN is a longtime fan and she’s worn a Terri King outfit on every album cover. The boutique also carries kaRIN’s KBD and Saints and Sinners line, which includes cases, jewelry, leather goods, and tees.



You’ll also find jewelry designed by Terri’s mom, Sandra King, who takes vintage pieces and gives them new life. Sandra is a well known artist in her home town of Charleston, West Virginia. Apparently creativity is in the DNA.

Terri is more than happy to take custom orders, and if you see something you like in the shop but it’s not in your size she’ll make it for you. Alterations are also free.  King Boutique is located at: 7218 Melrose Ave. L.A.
