L.A. Fashion Weekend: Sunset Gower, March 19 -21, 2010

The Gallery LA put together a string of events in honor of Fashion Weekend at Sunset Gower studios. The festivities kicked off on Friday night with the debut of White Trash Beautiful a new women's line by Nikki Lund and Richie Sambora (Bon Jovi). This rocker-chic collection centered upon leather and animal prints.

Saturday afternoon featured The Green Initiative Humanitarian Fashion Show. (Check our site for a full review). Saturday night's events included presentations by A.B.S., ANI, RAW-7, Urban Republic Clothing, LaCoste, and shoes by Dolce Vita.

Sunday's finale featured 100 different looks for men and women from Civil Society, Division E, Zanerobe, and Buffalo by David Bitton. Shoes were provided by Report Signature and the central theme of the show focused on LA street-chic.

Civil Society’s (Bob Roofian, Ramin Roofian, and Brad Schwartz) line of geek chic wear for men was accented by models sporting bow ties and thick rimmed glasses. European tailored looks were paired with combat boots, which gave the presentation a bit of an edge.

Division E (by Oren and Victoria Benmoshe) paired men’s and women’s looks. Flowing hoodies were paired with sleek leggings and over- the-knee boots. Leather trenches and studded heels also adorned the runway. Think Hollywood chic meets Venice beach casual.

Zanerobe—an Australian sportswear line by Jonathan Yeo and Leith Testoni—presented a vintage inspired sports collection featuring a simple and clean design aesthetic. Models came down the runway with a variety of props that ranged from hunter's hats to tennis rackets to boxing gloves, and even a riding crop. Shorts were paired with knee-high socks and wedge sneakers, which added to the casual nature of the show.

Buffalo's (by David Bitton) super sexy looks included skinny jeans paired with over-the-knee boots, metal chokers, studded miniskirts, and lots of leather. It was a throwback to the 90’s skater/grunge era. Puffy jackets and chain adorned jeans also made an appearance along with strapless mini dresses, and cropped coats. The men came down the runway in low boots, denim jackets, and canvas military-style jackets.

What was really great about this show was the interaction between the crowd and the models. The audience cheered as the models came down the catwalk, and the models responded to the attention by turning on the charm. It was definitely a fun show, and a great ending to an exciting fashion filled weekend.

It's pretty obvious that Sunset Gower is the place to be during L.A. Fashion Week. The vibe is fun and the lounge area is a great place to see L.A. fashion in action. Kudo's to Mikey Koffman founder of The Gallery LA and L.A. Fashion Weekend for doing such a great job of organizing the weekend's events.
